HE LIVES

“Why should I worship a dead Jew?”, challenged a sincere young Jewish student who had been attending the evangelistic meetings conducted by Alfred Ackley.

Ackley replied, “He lives!  I tell you, He is not dead, but lives here and now!  Jesus Christ is more alive today than ever before.  I can prove it by my experience, as well as the testimony of countless thousands.”

This emphatic answer and further conversations convinced this young Jewish student to accept the LIVING Saviour.  It also crystallized in Alfred a powerful sermon he titled, “He is Risen”.

Born in 1887, Alfred later received a thorough education in music at the Royal Academy of Music in London, England and was recognized as an accomplished cellist.  Following his graduation of Westminster Theological Seminary, he was ordained in to the Presbyterian ministry.  It is estimated that he wrote over 1,000 gospel songs and hymns.  He died in July 1960.

Like Alfred Ackley, all of us can know that Jesus is not dead but lives.  We can know that He loves and cares for each of us.  He lives to demonstrate that He loves you and I…even while we are yet not worthy of it!!
