I AM HIS & HE IS MINE

Our hymn story this time is about the wonderful text written by George Robinson called I AM HIS & HE IS MINE. Some hymnals call this hymn, “Loved with Everlasting Love.”
George was an Irish Pastor during the late 1800’s. Some of his poems were published in a volume called, "Songs in God’s World.”
Some have wondered if the text for this hymn was, in part, inspired by D. L. Moody’s testimony. Moody says that on the morning after he had first trusted Christ, he thought the old sun shone brighter than it ever had before; the birds seemed to be singing a song directly to him. He fell in love with the birds. D. L. Moody said that he suddenly had fallen in love with all creation and had no bitter feeling against any man!!
When God created the world and all that is in it, He looked at it and saw that it was good! God made man in His image. It is not surprising that when we accept God’s love for us and understand that we are His and He is ours, that what God created will take on a new and beautiful perspective which we never noticed before.
As George says in this text…”O this full and perfect peace from His presence all divine. In a love which cannot cease, I am His and He is mine!” What a wonderful and full relationship available to all of us with God our creator! Be encouraged with this reminder about God.
