NO ONE EVER CARED FOR ME LIKE JESUS

So many times, it is the experiences of life that become the inspiration, or maybe the motivation, for many hymns, poems or stories. These personal writings somehow become the words many others need to find expression to their own similar life situations, to find encouragement and direction. That is why hymns composed so many years ago continue to minister to us today.
Charles Weigle was born in Indiana in 1871. He studied music at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and travelled extensively as an evangelistic singer and itinerant preacher. One day after returning home from one of his crusades, he discovered that his wife had left him, taking with her their only son. “I’m leaving, Charles,” her note read. “I want to go the other way – to the bright lights.” She did not share his commitment to the gospel of Christ.
For several years, Mr. Weigle suffered through periods of deep depression…often wondering if anyone cared for him. “I became so despondent during the next several years that there were even times I contemplated suicide,” Charles later recalled. “But somehow the Lord told me not to.”
Later as he was sitting at the piano, he began thinking about how Jesus knows all about us and He truly cares for us…more than anyone else; he began to play and sing. In less than thirty minutes, the hymn was finished!
When it seems that no one else cares, please know today that Jesus cares for you! As his hymn says, “…I found in Him a friend so strong and true…He (Jesus) did something that no other friend could do.”
Charles' hymn, NO ONE EVER CARED FOR ME LIKE JESUS, reminds us of Jesus' constant love for you and I.
