NO ONE UNDERSTANDS LIKE JESUS

John W. Peterson, who passed away in September 2006, was a twentieth century songwriter who had a major influence on evangelical Christian music from the 1950’s through to the 1970’s.  He wrote over 1000 songs and 35 Cantatas…two of which were "Night of Miracles" and "Down from His Glory."

He served as an Air Force Pilot during World War II, and later attended Moody Bible Institute, serving on their radio staff for a number of years.  He graduated from the American Conservatory of Music in 1953 and continued his song writing career, composing songs still loved today such as “It Took A Miracle,” “Heaven Came Down,” “Jesus is coming Again,” and “Surely Goodness and Mercy.”  He served for over 10 years as the President and Editor-in-Chief of Singspiration, a sacred music publishing company.
